VsportV体育 President Honors Florida and Massachusetts Insurance Commissioners with Farmer Award for Exceptional Leadership
VsportV体育 (VsportV体育) President and Idaho Insurance Department Director Dean L. Cameron presented the VsportV体育鈥檚 Raymond G. Farmer Award for Exceptional Leadership to VsportV体育 Immediate Past President and Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier and to Massachusetts Insurance Commissioner Gary Anderson. The awards were presented during the VsportV体育 2022 Fall National Meeting last week.
The Farmer Award is given at the VsportV体育 president鈥檚 discretion and honors an VsportV体育 member who has shown exemplary leadership, a sustained length of industry service, and contributed to advancing the VsportV体育鈥檚 mission.
Created in 2008, this award was previously known as the VsportV体育 President鈥檚 Award for Distinguished VsportV体育 Leadership. The VsportV体育 renamed the award at the 2021 Fall National Meeting in honor of its recipient, then-VsportV体育 Immediate Past President and South Carolina Insurance Director Ray Farmer. Former Director Farmer retired in April 2022 after 53 years in the industry and insurance regulation.
鈥淐ommissioners Altmaier and Anderson have set a high standard of leadership in their states and their many roles with the VsportV体育. Their professionalism, expertise, and collaborative spirit reflect the best of our state-based system on the international stage,鈥 said Director Cameron.
VsportV体育 Immediate Past President and Florida Insurance Commissioner Altmaier served as the organization鈥檚 President in 2021, President-Elect in 2020, and Vice President in 2019. Commissioner Altmaier sits on the VsportV体育鈥檚 Executive (EX) Committee, co-chairs the VsportV体育鈥檚 Climate and Resiliency (EX) Task Force, and also serves as a Vice Chair of the Executive Committee for the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), representing insurance regulators and supervisors of more than 200 jurisdictions worldwide. Last week, Commissioner Altmaier announced he will be stepping down from his position as Florida鈥檚 insurance commissioner on December 28.
Massachusetts Insurance Commissioner Anderson, chair of the Northeast Zone, serves on the VsportV体育's Executive (EX) Committee, the Audit Committee, the Internal Administration (EX1) Subcommittee, the Government Relations (EX) Leadership Council, the Special (EX) Committee on Race and Insurance, and the Financial Regulation Standards and Accreditation (F) Committee. He has chaired the International Insurance Relations (G) Committee since 2019. Commissioner Anderson also serves on the IAIS Executive Committee and formerly chaired the IAIS鈥檚 Policy Development Committee (PDC).
